Special Needs

At Gulf Coast Rehab, we are able to accommodate almost any situation within reason. All different types of people are in need of rehabilitation, however sometimes people do not get help because they are too ashamed to ask for it. Gulf Coast is able to assist people who have special transportation needs before, during and after treatment takes place. People with minor physical disabilities can be easily accommodated at Gulf Coast facilities and our specialists are sensitive and compassionate in relation to these conditions.

Our intervention consultants and specialists are able to plan and perform drug and alcohol interventions to help users become ready for treatment. Even though a person may have an addiction, he/she may not be able to admit the problem, and is therefore unable to get the necessary treatment. An intervention consists of an initial phone conference between the loved ones of a user and an intervention consultant. Together these people, what is referred to as the 'intervention team', make plans to help highlight the substance abuse problem in a person's life. These plans are discussed in greater detail when the specialist arrives at the chosen location to perform the intervention.

If the intervention is successful, then the user will be taken either to a detox facility and then a treatment center, or directly to treatment. Gulf Coast provides this service because we understand that a successful intervention may be the last chance a user has before something more severe such as institutionalization, incarceration or death occurs. Interventions are one of the last avenues down which loved ones of users seek to find them help.

For some substance abusers, they feel they do not have time to stop being involved in their lives in order to get help. People such as executives, professionals and high-end officials may want to get sober, but find they cannot stop using drugs or alcohol on their own. Instead of continuing to try alone, with no visible results, they may find that they use of sober coaching is as service to their liking.

Sober coaching is similar to outpatient treatment, however instead of attending a program during the day, a sober coach attends to the individual. A Gulf Coast Rehab sober coach usually has some experience with sobriety and recovery and is able to help a person regain structure within his/her life. The sober coach may attend 12-step meetings with a client, or even re-teach a person daily life skills that have been lost over the years from using.

Sober coaching can also be helpful to someone that is leaving treatment but is not quite sure that he/she will be able to maintain sobriety in the 'real world'. In cases such as these, the sober coach acts as a form of support and will work with the client to create a stronger support network and set of activities that is conducive to early recovery. Gulf Coast is committed to creating services and environments that work for recovering substance abusers, and our special needs services continue to grow with demand.
