Young Adults (18 - 25)
Gulf Coast Rehab takes into special consideration
the needs of young adults and is able to provide a more explicit
treatment plan that is age-appropriate. There is no question
as to whether or not young people suffer from addiction to
drugs and alcohol, and in recent years, the trend of substance
abuse in young adults has increased substantially. Young adults
who go through treatment programs are often prone to relapse
because they think that they are 'too young' or they cannot
relate to issues that older adults are going through.
At Gulf Coast Rehab we work hard to ensure
that young adults have a fair chance at staying sober by dealing
with their reservations and working with them on an individual
basis to help them overcome fears and underlying issues. Some
young substance abusers have been present when a parent, or
close family member, has been involved in an addiction. These
young people often suppress negative emotions and turn to
drugs and alcohol in order to deal with their feelings.
Gulf Coast Rehab also works closely with
young adults who have a desire to rebuild relationships with
their families. Through individual and family counseling sessions
unresolved issues are addressed. Our program also helps young
adults either to find or create the type of support system
that they will need once their treatment has been completed.
